About me
Rachel Woods is an aspiring peer recovery specialist driven by a profound empathy shaped by her diverse experiences. Having overcome significant challenges, including mental health issues, substance use, homelessness, incarceration, and the loss of parental rights, she stands as a resilient survivor of domestic violence.
Her understanding of these struggles is enhanced by her upbringing as the only child of a mother involved in 12-step meetings, which provided her with valuable insights into the healing process and the importance of community support. The recent loss of her best friend to addiction has further strengthened her commitment to helping others achieve lasting sobriety and wellness.
Rachel's sustained stability and sobriety exemplify the possibilities of recovery. She is dedicated to empowering women in recovery and is currently awaiting internship approval at The Peer Academy. This opportunity is a crucial step toward becoming a board-certified peer recovery specialist, where she aims to create a safe and supportive space for women to recognize their strengths, improve their wellness during pregnancy, and collaboratively pursue their recovery goals, fostering a strong sense of hope and community.
