About me
Mike Long, a proud Virginia Tech graduate and Richmond, Virginia native, is a dedicated advocate for family recovery from substance use disorder. With two children in long-term recovery, Mike has walked the journey of healing firsthand and now devotes his time to supporting other families on similar paths. He leads family recovery meetings and shares his experience to help others build strong, united, and resilient homes.
A longtime member of Epiphany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mike serves faithfully on the food pantry team and contributes his professional skills as a signage salesman by volunteering to create signs for his church and helping local businesses grow and thrive.
Mike is deeply committed to reducing the stigma surrounding addiction and believes in the power of community, compassion, and education. He has learned invaluable lessons through his own family’s recovery—lessons that have inspired and empowered others. Whether he’s cheering on Virginia Tech sports, biking, kayaking, or volunteering, Mike brings energy, heart, and hope to all he does.
He is a true example of how families can heal—and help others heal—for generations to come.
