About me
Melvina Goodman Randolph is a proud Brooklyn, New York native whose lifelong passion for learning has shaped her into an inspiring educator, counselor, and spiritual leader. She is a professor at Reynolds Community College, where she teaches courses in Group Dynamics and Substance Use Counseling, sharing her vast knowledge and experience to empower future professionals in the field.
Abstinent from drugs since June 3, 1990, Melvina has dedicated over 25 years to helping individuals and families impacted by substance use disorders. In 2014, she founded Inner Zones, LLC, a platform through which she guides individuals and groups to live authentically and purposefully by integrating the Twelve Steps with biblical and universal spiritual principles.
An ordained minister since 2004, Melvina is a strong advocate for the transformative power of faith and spirituality in recovery. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan College of New York (2000), a Master’s in Theology from Virginia Union University (2004), and two Master of Science degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University—one in Patient Counseling (Chaplaincy, 2004) and the other in Rehabilitation Counseling (2009). She is also a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC), a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), a Master Addictions Counselor (MAC), and a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP).
Currently pursuing her doctorate at Virginia Union University, Melvina’s research focuses on the intersection of addiction, religion, and spirituality. She is committed to deepening the understanding of how spiritual practices and faith can enhance recovery and well-being.
Some of her personal attributes are authenticity, humor, creativity, and self-determination. She resides in Richmond, Virginia, with her husband, Dr. DeWayne Randolph, where they continue to inspire and support their community.
