About me
Lauren Powell is the program coordinator at Rams in Recovery and a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist and Trainer. She earned her Bachelor of Health Sciences degree from James Madison University and her Master's in Educational Leadership from VCU. She is now a doctoral candidate in the School of Education at VCU and will graduate with her doctorate in May 2025. Lauren is dedicated to building inclusive recovery communities that help students find a pathway that works for their individual recovery. Her favorite parts about working at Rams in Recovery are facilitating seminars and helping students develop into the next version of themselves. She loves that she gets to witness people achieve goals they once thought impossible due to a substance use disorder. Lauren lives in Richmond, VA, with her husband Reid, their eight-year-old human child James, and a slew of critters (one incorrigible dog named Mac and his three sworn feline enemies: Chili, Pepper, and Taco).
