About me
Ellen Long is a passionate advocate for family recovery, with two children in long-term recovery from substance use disorders. Originally from South Carolina, Ellen attended the University of South Carolina and has lived in Richmond, Virginia for many years. Ellen the Owner of Taylor Long Properties Commercial Real Estate, founded in 2003. Her leadership and vision have earned her numerous accolades, including being named a CoStar Power Broker for many years.
Ellen’s commitment to her community extends well beyond her professional work. She serves past chair and president of ACTS (Area Congregations Together in Service), where she continues to support efforts to provide financial care aimed at preventing and ending homelessness in the Richmond area. A dedicated member of Epiphany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ellen is active on the Community Service Team and devotes her time to helping others through both service and advocacy.
Mental health awareness and reform are also deeply important to Ellen. She completed the Family-to-Family education at NAMI Virginia (National Alliance on Mental Illness), where she continues to stay in touch with those affected by mental health challenges.
Through the personal journey of helping her own family heal, Ellen discovered a powerful calling: to walk alongside other families affected by addiction. She is one of the facilitators of a family support group, “Loving Someone With a Substance Use Disorder.”
Ellen serves on the Advisory Committee for Illume Family Recovery and serves as a Board Member of Journey House Foundation. Her greatest passion is helping families find hope, healing, and connection. What began as a struggle within her own family has become a source of strength and purpose—proof that, even in the darkest storms, recovery and renewal are possible. Her children, Holly and Ray, are now thriving in long-term recovery, living testaments to the power of perseverance, love, and support.
