About me
Deia Weatherman is a Peer Recovery Specialist at Health Brigade, where she works in the Comprehensive Harm Reduction (CHR) Department. With a strong commitment to harm reduction and supporting individuals on their journey to recovery, Deia draws upon her personal experiences to advocate for those who are often marginalized by traditional recovery approaches. Originally from North Carolina, Deia moved to Virginia three years ago, where she found recovery and began rebuilding her life. Since then, she has dedicated herself to providing compassionate, non-judgmental support to others navigating similar challenges. In addition to her work at Health Brigade, Deia is currently pursuing a degree in social work and substance abuse counseling. Her studies complement her professional experience, equipping her with the tools and knowledge needed to broaden her impact in the field of addiction recovery and social services. She is deeply passionate about addressing the stigma surrounding addiction and is committed to breaking down barriers to recovery, especially in non-traditional recovery environments. Deia's lived experience is central to her work. Having navigated complex systems such as mental health care and the criminal justice system, she understands firsthand the emotional and psychological toll these institutions can take. Her personal journey through trauma and recovery allows her to connect with others on a deep and empathetic level, offering both hope and practical support to those who are still facing similar struggles. Deia is dedicated to being a source of strength and inspiration for those who feel lost, helping them see the possibilities of a healthier, more fulfilling future.
