About me
James Bacon is a person in recovery, the Community Engagement and Outreach Program Manager at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Institute for Drug and Alcohol Studies, and a graduate student in epidemiology at VCU’s School of Public Health. He is passionate about using research methods and public health strategies to support Richmond’s recovery community and advance outcomes for individuals affected by substance use disorder. His work is grounded in collaboration and lived experience, with a background in community-engaged and community-based participatory research throughout the Richmond area.
