About me
Tiffani Wells is from Williamsburg, VA, but grew up in Richmond. After facing some challenges in her life,
she found her passion for helping people with substance use and mental health issues. She began her
journey with Americorps as a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist at Virginia Commonwealth University
(VCU) with Rams in Recovery.
In April 2021, Tiffani joined the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services
(DBHDS) as the REVIVE! Administrative Support Specialist and later became the Harm Reduction
Coordinator. She played an important role in Virginia's response to the opioid crisis, working on various
committees and implementing the Virginia SHAW (Safe Housing and Warmth) Project to assist
individuals experiencing homelessness.
Tiffani also focuses on educating treatment providers, law enforcement, and community leaders about
harm reduction to reduce stigma. She is now the Recovery Residence Quality Assurance Coordinator
with the Office of Recovery Services (ORS) and has spoken at numerous conferences, including being a
keynote speaker at the Collaborations Conference in January 2024.
She holds a Master's degree in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from VCU and is currently
pursuing a Ph.D. in Public Policy with a focus on Social Policy at Liberty University. Outside of work,
Tiffani enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, and taking care of her cats, which helps her
recharge and maintain a balanced life. She is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of those
affected by substance use and mental health challenges.
